Skin Darkening & Brown Spots

Skin Darkening & Brown Spots
Symptoms
Brown spots especially on the cheekbones, forehead and temples. Dull,
patchy and uneven complexion.
Most women think they have a dark and dull veil covering their face. They view their skin as blemished.
With time and under cumulative UV exposure, an excess of melanin the pigment responsible for skin colouring is produced within the skin. This over production leads to an irregular distribution of melanin. Skin pigmentation becomes uneven and brown spots form.
This phenomenon is accentuated by the accumulation of dead cells
on the skin’s surface. Skin surface is rough, irregular and no longer reflects natural light
Skin looks dull, as if veiled.

How do brown spots appear on the face?

  • Under the effect of time and UV rays, some melanocytes become ‘hyperactive’.
  • They over produce melanin and transfer it to the neighboring cells, thus increasing ‘Melanin Load’.
  • Cells highly concentrated with melanin move upwards towards the skin’s surface.
  • Overall complexion becomes more pigmented and visibly darker.
  • Brown spots start to appear (especially on cheekbones and temples).

Tips to fight skin darkening and brown spots

Alcohol Content
Too many facial skin products are high in alcohol content, which may burn the topmost layer of your skin and stimulate more melanin production. Stick to mild cleansers and astringents and do not overuse them. When applying any product, do not press firmly onto the skin pores or they may get clogged and irritated, resulting to more discoloration.
Gentle Exfoliation
Boost your skin’s luminosity by getting rid of dead skin cells on the top layers of the epidermis. The best way to do it is by genle exfoliation. LHA, found in the Bi-White Reveal formula gently micro-refines and smooth skin texture for a visibly radiant complexion.
Source Treatment
Until now, skin darkening has never been treated at the very source. Not anymore VICHY Laboratoires have brought whitening to a new generation by introducing the first exclusive ingredient, Ceramide White™. Together with LHA, melanin production is curbed even before it is initiated at its very source.
Sun Protection
UV rays can penetrate your office window glass and cause problems to your skin. Use a sunscreen product with at least SPF 30. If you have sensitive skin, you should opt for a sunscreen with a higher SPF. For maximum UV protection, try using VICHY UV Activ daily Protective Anit-Pigmenation Fluid SPF50+++. It is oil free and keeps the skin hydrated for 24hrs too!
Stress Level
High stress levels can affect hormonal imbalance, leading to inflammation and increased melanin production. Include anti-irritants and soothing ingredients aim your skin care products to calm agitated skin VICHY Bi-WHITE REVEAL range contains VICHY Thermal Spa Water that fortifies and strengthens the skin and is suitable for use even on sensitive skin.
